Civil Aviation Manager
Join ASD in Brussels as a Civil Aviation Manager to support research, airworthiness, EU policies, and advocacy for the civil aviation industry
ASD is looking for a motivated, proactive and experienced manager to join its international team in Brussels – as soon as possible. Reporting to the ASD Civil Aviation Director, she/he will be responsible for managing the ASD activities in the fields of research, emerging technologies and related airworthiness matters for the civil aviation sector.
About ASD
The Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) represents the European aeronautics, space, defence and security industries in all matters of common interest with the objective of promoting and supporting the competitive development of the sector. Representing the interests of ASD members in the civil aviation sector, the Civil Aviation Business Unit (CABU) contributes to the shaping of EU regulatory and policy measures which support the development and evolution of the civil aviation industry sector in the EU.
Key areas of responsibility
The Civil Aviation Manager will:
- Support the ASD Civil Aviation Director, Civil Aviation Business Unit (CABU) and the Civil Aviation team, in the range of research, emerging technologies and related airworthiness matters
- Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the activities of relevant committees and working bodies reporting to the CABU
- Advise the ASD Civil Aviation Director on relevant developments related to the topics listed above
- Monitor and assess EU Research policies impacting the EU civil aviation industry
- Coordinate ASD input (in the field of the relevant topics listed above) towards ICAO via the global grouping of associations, ICCAIA
- Contribute to the development of common industry positions
- Contribute to ASD’s outreach and advocacy
Background and experience
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) with professional experience preferably within aviation
- Good knowledge of the civil aviation sector, in particular in one or more of the topics listed above
- Ability to summarise complex technical issues for different stakeholders
- Ability to understand the EU specific policies affecting civil aviation
- Experience related to the EU institutional environment is an advantage

- Proficiency in English (excellent oral, writing and editing skills)
- Precise, analytical and contextual thinking
- Political sensitivity
- Capacity to learn fast, be flexible and think ahead
- Good team player and interpersonal skills
- Digital literacy (very good Internet research and Microsoft Office skills)
