Global participation for net zero aviation

ASD actively participates in global environmental efforts through key organisations like ICCAIA, ATAG, and the ICAO Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection.

ASD is actively engaged in driving climate-neutral aviation initiatives on the international stage.

ASD contributes to these objectives through its Environment Commission and working groups, made up of representatives from national trade associations and ASD member companies. ASD’s Environment Commission monitors EU legislation and policy, developing common positions and strategies on topics such as sustainable alternative fuels, noise, emissions, chemicals legislation, and the circular economy.

ASD, through the Environment Commission, also plays a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of ASD members at the Aircraft Noise and Engine Emissions Committee (ANEEC) under the International Coordination Council of Aerospace Industries Associations (ICCAIA).

As the European representation within ICCAIA, ASD participates as an observer in the Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP), the environmental committee of the UN's International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Through CAEP, ICAO establishes standards, policies, and guidance to support an environmentally responsible civil aviation industry, including a CO2 standard and the first global sectoral climate agreement.

Beyond CO2 emissions

ASD's commitment extends beyond CO2 emissions to addressing the broader issue of aviation's non-CO2 effects on climate change.
