Aerospace cooperation boosted by new agreements on S1000D and S-Series specifications
Designed to enhance global aerospace cooperation, ASD, the Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA), the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC) and Airlines for America (A4A) signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs), and celebrated the MoUs and closer international cooperation at a reception yesterday at the Farnborough Airshow.
The first MoU (between AIA, A4A, ASD and SJAC) represents a major advancement in the harmonisation of efforts to maintain and enhance the S1000D standard – a crucial specification for creating and managing technical publications in the aerospace and defence industries.
The second MoU (between AIA, ASD and SJAC) focuses on the S-series IPS specifications more broadly, which encompass a comprehensive approach to managing the lifecycle of aerospace and defence products. This agreement between AIA, ASD, and SJAC underscores a mutual commitment to advancing Integrated Product Support practices worldwide.
Paul-Alexander Cramers, ASD’s Services Manager, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: "By integrating the insights and capabilities of our Japanese partners, we are poised to enhance the robustness and applicability of the S-series specifications, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the global aerospace and defence industries."
The signing of the MoUs marks a new era of cooperation, with the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies gaining representation on key committees and working groups, facilitating the exchange of technical information.
The agreements are a testament to the commitment of AIA, ASD, SJAC, and A4A to foster an integrated and cooperative global aerospace industry. By leveraging collective expertise and resources, the organisations are driving forward the standards that will shape the future of aerospace and defence product support and technical publications for the next generation.
