Industry's commitment to addressing Non-Co2 emissions highlighted at ILA Berlin

The aviation sector is committed to reduce its environmental footprint based on science and a holistic approach addressing both CO2 and non-CO2!

Yesterday at the ILA Berlin Airshow, ASD’s Civil Aviation Director Vincent De Vroey moderated a panel discussion on the aviation sector's efforts to understand and address non-CO2 emissions and their impact on climate change.

The aviation industry is steadfast in its mission to achieve substantial CO2 emissions reductions in line with EU goals. Equally important, the sector is actively tackling the less understood but significant non-CO2 emissions, which also contribute to global warming. By collaborating with research institutions, universities, and key stakeholders, the industry is deepening its understanding and developing effective solutions.

The panel discussion, led by Vincent De Vroey, featured insights from leading experts:

  • Fabian Donus, Head of Technology Management at MTU Aero Engines
  • Laurent Donceel, Deputy Managing Director at Airlines for Europe (A4E)
  • Arndt Schoenemann, Chairman and CEO at DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH

The discussion covered groundbreaking advancements in aircraft and engine technologies, the integration of sustainable aviation fuels, economic measures, and enhancements in air traffic management.

“The aviation sector is committed to reduce its environmental footprint based on science and a holistic approach addressing both CO2 and non-CO2!”, said Vincent De Vroey.

The panel at ILA Berlin highlights the industry's proactive stance in embracing innovative solutions and forging partnerships to ensure a greener future for aviation.
