The Irish Defence and Security Association joins ASD

The Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) welcomes, after approval by the ASD Board, the Irish Defence and Security Association (IDSA) as a new member. IDSA’s membership took effect on 9 April.

With this, ASD now has 50 members, including 25 associations representing more than 4,000 companies in 21 European countries.

IDSA represents SMEs, research organisations and multinational corporations from the defence and security industry across Ireland.

Jan Pie, ASD Secretary General, said:

“We warmly welcome IDSA to the ASD family. IDSA is our first member from Ireland, which further increases the regional footprint of ASD across Europe and underpins our identity as the single voice of the European aerospace, security and defence ecosystem.”

Pat O’Connor, Chairman of the Irish Defence & Security Association IDSA, said:

“Our members share concerns about Ireland’s vulnerability in a deteriorating security environment, but share optimism that this vulnerability can not only be mitigated, but that it can also be turned around to the benefit of Ireland, our society and our economy, if the right vision, leadership and supporting policies are put in place now. By joining ASD, we aim to contribute to the shaping of these policies also at the European level, in close cooperation with partners from across Europe.”
