November 13, 2019 - Members of Europe’s leading aviation associations have today published a joint paper setting out the principles to support the safe integration into European airspace of unmanned aircraft, or ‘drones’.

Introduction One year into the COVID-19 pandemic and faced with new variants and a third wave in most of Europe, we continue to be faced with diverging national requirements, often introduced at very short notice.

  Introduction: The Urban Air Mobility Ecosystem Mobility is a key societal need and a cornerstone of liveable and sustainable cities, and which ensures economic growth, social development and cohesion. Hence, the search for seamless and integrated transport solutions to enhance people’s and goods’ mobility is high in the policy-making agenda and is pursued in several cities, regions and countries, and among numerous cross-sectoral stakeholders.

ASD welcomes the Commission’s roadmap on critical technologies for security and defence. The roadmap is a strategic document that sets out a vision and broad intentions rather than concrete actions. Still, we consider it as an important step towards a new, more strategic approach to the technological base of Europe’s security and defence. This ASD Position Paper presents industry’s views on the Commission’s proposed way forward, following the structure and the different sections of the roadmap.

ASD welcomes the Communication on the Commission’s contribution to European defence, which provides input to the Strategic Compass that was adopted end of March.
