  • March 5, 2014

March 5, 2014 - It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Dr. Assad Kotaite, one of the most prominent and respected figures in the world of civil aviation.

Recognised across the world as a master conciliator and consensus-builder, Dr. Kotaite served with the International Civil Aviation Organization for more than fifty years, including thirty years as the elected President of the Council, making him the longest-tenured senior executive in the history of the United Nations.

The global aviation community will miss Dr. Kotaite’s visionary leadership and dedication to the safe and orderly development of international civil aviation.

ICCAIA is the international organization of aerospace industry manufacturing associations. ICCAIA was established in 1972 to provide the civil aircraft industry a means to be represented with observer status in the deliberations of the UN’s International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). ICCAIA was constituted by the Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA) and the European Association of Aerospace & Defence Industries (ASD). Subsequent members of ICCAIA now include the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC), the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC), the Aerospace Industries Association of Brazil (AIAB) and the Russian Union of Aviation Industrialists (UAI).
