Thales: our engagement to provide radiology solutions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic

  • April 9, 2020

Today more than ever, hospitals are seeking to increase their capacity while the number of patient admissions continues to grow due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The radiology solutions we produce have never been as vital, and we’re fully committed to meeting these requirements. Our detectors and imaging software are an integral part of the X-ray tables and portable systems offered by our equipment manufacturer customers to produce high-quality images. They enable healthcare professionals to assess and monitor the status of patients with COVID-19 through the analysis of pulmonary lesions, both in X-ray rooms and directly at the bedside.

Supporting our partners and customers around the world who are meeting the needs of hospitals, healthcare professionals and patients, we’re playing our part in this collective effort to fight the pandemic, thanks to the unfailing commitment of our teams. Our priority is to enable our people on site to work in the best possible conditions. With the implementation of extensive health, safety and hygiene measures, we are maintaining critical activities at our Moirans site, such as production and delivery of Trixell® detectors, which are strategically important in the fight against coronavirus.

Our purpose is to ensure continuity of service in order to meet ever-increasing demands throughout this crisis period. As such, we have also implemented a plan to boost production. Our production facility is currently operating 24/7, teams working across five separate shifts. In addition, other vital support functions are being maintained by staff working from home. These include technical and commercial support, procurement, and supply chain duties.

In Israel, CMT Medical, our entity dedicated to the production of software, is currently operating at a high level of capacity thus meeting the increased demand for mobile radiography solutions which provide a clinical image, forming the basis of any diagnosis.

On behalf of patients, hospitals and equipment manufacturers, we take this opportunity to thank all medical staff as well as our teams engaged daily in providing these medical solutions. The commitment of everyone at this exceptional time is helping us play our part in fighting this pandemic.
